Jjajja Njagala translated as "loving grandparents" is a social program designed to visit, encourage, and cater for the holistic well-being of the elderly. The sponsorship of houses - whether repair or new construction is also a way to support their comfort and protection. Many grandparents are caretakers for their grandchildren who are HIV/Aids orphans, and live in small shacks/rooms that are very unsafe and have leaky roofs. It makes a real difference in their lives when they have a small, efficient and permanent building in which to live. These small 2-roomed houses assist in providing for the family, giving them needed protection and security in an environment that can be unsafe. Grandparents are often old, which makes this extra care for their sickly children and grandchildren and enormous responsibility. Their burden is great and their hard work and energy is courageous. Due to this, we desire to come along side and try to ease some of these burdens through home visits, relief, and through celebration -- Jjjajja parties.
HOW CAN I HELP?
BUILDING A HOME
A 2-roomed house and toilet is approximately $4200-6000 USD per house, depending on specifics. These homes can change the lives of generations.
