The view from Colleen's Hospital bed |
“Less” is “More”!!!
Yesterday we talked to Germany regarding active projects. We also had at least an hour phone call with Colleen's brother, Kirk, from Zambia. Two guys dreaming up plans for one's company and NGO in Southern Africa. Big talks!! We also had video correspondence with our team on site in Northern Uganda.
We were discussing the land for an approved school project in the area where 1.2 million Southern Sudan refugees call home. From Kampala, they sent a sketch of the second story of the dining hall, as we continue to look to the future at Heritage International School. This was all just yesterday! However, the biggest deal affecting us this year, was dealt with today.
Today, “less” is way, way more!! It was a super important day as Colleen’s cancer is removed. Colleen’s successful surgery is all done! The surgeons took out everything they found as cancerous! I spoke with the surgeon after the surgery and he said “we have room for optimism that all cancer was removed successfully”. After her surgery, she had a few hours of recovery before she was awake and eventually sent to her room. Once awake, she is looking good and communicating with nurses.
The spleen was removed completely, and the liver had over 12 spots that were nipped off with another 6 larger lesions removed. Once she was opened up, the surgeon could look around. He checked thoroughly and didn't see any sign of any cancer in the abdomen once the liver and spleen were operated on. With the liver, they saw how significantly the cancer had died as it appeared more like scar tissue instead of an active growth. They took out all possible cancer spots to be sure. They will complete a biopsy to check to see what was what, but such a good report so far! The hospital is huge, so it was an adventure finding where she being moved to and from.
The care, prayers and support is so appreciated. We thank the God who sees us when we are less, and shows us, as always, He is more.
