Stanley Wally Hoffman, a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished opa, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born in Ebenezer, Saskatchewan on April 3, 1932, to Gustav Hoffman of Lublin, Poland and Amanda Ruttig of Oakbanks, Manitoba.
Stanley was a remarkable individual who left an endearing mark on the lives of all those who knew him. He was married to Marion Margaret Hoffman (nee Schwartz) for 67 years and together they had 3 children: Colleen, Kirk and Mark. He was the proud grandfather to 8 granddaughters and 4 grandsons, and a great grandfather to 3 great granddaughters and 4 great grandsons. He was also a beloved brother to one brother and three sisters.
Stanley was a pioneer missionary, and planted churches in 8 African countries for the Church of God mission, and as an ordained minister was passionate about training pastors and evangelism, leaving an incredible legacy of being a Godly servant. He received Doctorates from 2 universities for his outstanding work in missions, and an author, publishing 8 books on his life in Africa.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity: Furaha Africa Relief Association for the Advancement of Christian Faith Project #230, in Stanley's memory.

He was truly extraordinary. His loss is still felt and I will be praying for all who were near and dear to him.
ReplyDeleteDear Rev. Marion and Family,
ReplyDeleteIt is with heavy hearts that The Church of God of East Africa Uganda, remember and honor the
life of a remarkable man of God, Dr. Rev Stanley Hoffman. His passing leaves a void in our
hearts and in the Christian community that will be deeply felt for years to come.
Dr. Hoffman's legacy in Uganda is nothing short of extraordinary. For over four decades, since
1982, he dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel and planting churches throughout the nation.
His unwavering commitment to the growth of the church in Uganda is a testament to his
profound faith and dedication to his calling.
One of his most significant contributions was the establishment of Theological Extension by
Education (T.E.E), a program that played a pivotal role in equipping and nurturing the spiritual
growth of countless individuals. Through seminars and teachings, he tirelessly shared his
wisdom and knowledge, often sacrificing his own comfort by sleeping in his car when there were
no lodges available. Hoffman was not just a preacher; he was a teacher and a spiritual father to
many. His encouragement and guidance revitalized the spirits of those who had grown weak in
their faith.
Even at the age of 91, Hoffman continued to exemplify generosity and selflessness. He and
Marion, built Marion Junior Nampunge School, Hoffman Nursery and Primary School
Pallisa,The Church in Katakwi last year, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to
education and the future of young minds. His actions mirrored the love and compassion of
Christ.
Perhaps one of the most remarkable qualities of Hoffman was his unwavering integrity. He was a
man of his word, always standing firmly by his commitments and beliefs. His life reflected the
passage from Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And
who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” NIV where he responded to the Lord's
call and went to many places to spread the message of love and salvation.
Today, as we mourn the loss of a true servant of God, let us also celebrate the incredible impact
he had on the lives of countless Ugandans and the church as a whole. Rev Stanley Hoffman
leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us in our Christian journey. His
dedication, generosity, and integrity will forever be remembered as a shining example of faith in
action.
In this time of grief, let us find solace in the knowledge that Hoffman now rests in the loving
arms of our Savior, his mission on Earth complete. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family
and Especially his wife Rev. Marion as she navigates this difficult time. May God grant her the
comfort and strength she needs.

As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:21, "Well
done, good and faithful servant...Enter into the joy of your Lord." Dr. Rev Stanley Hoffman has
indeed heard these words, and his legacy will continue to echo in the hearts of those he touched.
With deepest condolences,
Edrin Serwano
National Church Representative
Church of God of East Africa Uganda.

ReplyDeleteDear Marion, Colleen, Tim and family. It was a great privilege to have known Stanley over many years from his earliest missionary days to the recent ones. Fairview Church felt very close to him, having sent a work group to Zambia to work with him and Marion and then having them at one of our church retreats. He was such a courageous, passionate, persistent, faithful servant of the Lord. Many persons were brought into the Kingdom through his love and ministry. We thank God for the privilege of knowing this great servant of the Lord!
